Description
Palm kernel oil of West African Elaeis guineensis, (not to be confused with palm oil, which comes from the fleshy pulp of the palm fruits), is an unrefined and traditionally made oil treasured in Ghana, West Africa. It comes from the kernels of the palm tree and has an earthy aroma. His color is dark brown, almost black and smells like coffee. Packed with essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins, it’s perfect for nourishing and restoring hair and skin naturally.
It is a deeply nourishing, multipurpose oil crafted through traditional methods to maintain its purity and potency. It’s rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids as oleic acid, palmitic acid, linoleic acid, stearic acid, and lauric acid, which all help moisturize the hair and scalp to increase shine and strength. For the skin, it acts as a deeply moisturizing emollient, soothing ezcema and is ideal for acne prone skin.
Many are promoting Batana as a ”better oil” than palm kernel oil. In reality, Batana oil and palm kern oil are the same oil.
The West African palm kernel oil is rich in lauric acid that is a saturated fatty acid that plays a key role in antimicrobial activity. The lauric acid, which is abundant in coconut oil also, is ideal for hair growth and for oily skin.
