Description
16 inches strand, (40 cm.), 80+ saucer beads. They measure approx 14-15 x 5 mm. with a 2-3 mm. hole. Approx. weight 110 grams.
Recycled glass are made by crushing old glass (from old bottles, windows, etc) in powder, which is then heated and poured int clay molds. A leaf stem (cassava) is used as a hole. As the beads are oven backed, the glass fuses and the stem burn away.
The bead making technique has been used in Africa for centuries.
It results in a beautiful rough, primitive appearance with a texture similar to sea glass.
