Kenya batik bone beads

Description

These beautiful cube bone beads were made in Kenya.
Hand-carved from cow bone, they have an inlaid wooden core.

Weight 390 grams.

Most modern bone beads are made from cow or sheep or camel bones and are a byproduct of the food industry. In Kenya, skilled craftsmen carve and shape recycled bones, then use a wax resist batik process to create African designs.
